Arizona Republicans Declare War On Liberty

By Elisha Dorfsmith

Not a single high profile Republican (from local office to the Governor’s office) in Arizona voiced public opposition or concern about HB2608, a bill that will limit third party choices on the Arizona ballot. It sailed through by party line with EVERY Republican in the legislature supporting it and the Governor happily signing it.

The passage of HB2608 was a clear declaration of war against every independent minded individual in Arizona and everyone who appreciates more than two choices on the ballot. This was especially an attack on Libertarians who were the reason Republicans worked so hard to pass this. They openly admit that they don’t want Libertarians on the ballot because Libertarians “steal Republican votes”. Yes, Republicans think they are entitled to your vote.

I would be lying if I didn’t admit that this is one of the most discouraging things that has happened since I started getting involved in Arizona politics a decade ago. One of those few moments where you want to throw your hands up and give up. The deafening silence from “liberty” minded Republicans makes it all the more discouraging. Nobody cares when the little guy is trampled…as long as it is not their team.

To all the Republicans who have started contacting me asking me to help with their campaigns in 2016, please stop. Unless you are willing to make this a campaign issue and call the GOP out on their corruption I will fight against you, campaign against you and vote against you. A war has been declared, independent minded people have been attacked and Republicans are now officially the enemy of liberty in Arizona.

Sadly, this is no surprise as the majority of Americans now identify themselves as “independents”. Ever since Ross Perot’s presidential bid and Jesse Ventura became governor of Minnesota the duopoly have ratcheted up their opposition to any third party establishing a foothold. Personally this is when I wish there was a “none of the above” check box on the ballet. This next presidential election is going to be interesting because not one of the candidates from either party is resonating with the people!

Elisha, most GOP members are sheeple and do not know the law even exists.

Your blog gives you an outlet for your frustration and gives information to the masses.

You are doing all you can do.

Good seeing you guys. Wish we had had more time,

    Drake
