By Elisha Dorfsmith

For those wondering what former Flagstaff City Manager Kevin Burke has been up to since he left Flagstaff, he recently made national headlines and is currently featured in an article on the Drudge Report for the installation of license plate reading cactus cameras in Paradise Valley.

While Burke claims that these cameras are for public safety, they clearly track the movement of all residents and visitors alike and the plates are automatically processed through the police database.

Expect these to arrive in more towns around Arizona soon as the surveillance state pushes to monitor your every movement.

Is our City presently considering similar installations?

Not currently but I expect it to eventually. If/when it does we need to really push back.

Who is pushing for this and where would the funding come from?

That’s a good question. I could speculate but if I find out anything for sure I will post it here.
