Thorpe Attacks Underdog Candidates, Endorses Underdog Candidate

By Elisha Dorfsmith

“If a person absolutely doesn’t even have a chance of winning and they still throw their hat in the ring why exactly are they doing it?” –Rep. Bob Thorpe

AZ State Rep. Bob Thorpe has said multiple times on The Big Talker and Flag Mornings that candidates shouldn’t run for office if they can’t win (he was defending his vote for HB2305 that destroys ballot access for third party candidates).

If candidates should not run if they can’t win, why is Rep. Thorpe supporting Adam Kwasman for CD1? Andy Tobin (love him or hate him) already has this primary race in the bag. Kwasman will never win in CD1. Maybe it is time for Rep. Thorpe to admit that he was wrong and sometimes it’s ok to support an underdog candidate?

In the video below FLA board member Travis Estes discusses HB2305 and ends up debating Rep. Bob Thorpe. Thorpe calls in at about the 7:30 point. Enjoy.

Somebody needs to tell that douchebag that elections are not like handicapping a horse race. It’s an election — a chance to vote for someone with whom I agree on the issues. I’ll vote for the person I think best represents my priorities, not some “lesser of two evils” partisan hack. What a twit!

I am sorry but Kwasman as a rep of LD11 represents over 48% of all the republican primary voters in CD1. Andy Tobin does not even live in the district, and in my opinion is far from conservative,

You’re right, they both suck as candidates. But the establishment is behind Tobin and Tobin has this in the bag. That said, after watching last night’s debate, Gary Kiehne has my vote in the GOP primary.
