The GOP Civil War Over Libertarianism

By Elisha Dorfsmith

In the video below, Matt Welch (Reason Magazine) discusses many of the conflicts in the Republican Party that I’ve talked about in the past on my blog.  This “civil war” is taking place from the national to the local level.

It is interesting to note that in many parts of the Country Ron Paul supporters and tea party members have decided to work together to fight the establishment. Strangely, in Coconino County the establishment worked with the tea party to keep Ron Paul supporters out.

As I’ve said many times, the Republican Party is at a crossroads. They can either embrace liberty and grow or push liberty minded people away and become irrelevant forever.

Yes, unfortunately…after the Tea Party successes in 2010, the Coconino County Republicans took an active role in enticing many so called Tea Party Patriots over to the dark side. I quite vividly remember sitting at an invitation meeting where the county Republican precinct chair literally told Tea Party people they now had to join the Republicans. I also vividly remember getting up and walking out in disgust and anger. Unfortunately alot of people who espoused themselves as Tea Party members were nothing more than maluable sheep……willing to fall in with the Republicans and follw their nonsense. Yes, it happened but, we’re not all suckers….there’s still some HONEST Tea Party folks out there.
