Steele: “Ron Paul Treated With Rudeness And Stupidity”

Yesterday Michael Steele said the following during an interview on the Daily Show with Jon Stewart:

“What the Republican National Committee did to Ron Paul was the height of rudeness and stupidity for this reason: Why would you alienate an individual who has the ability to attract a new generation of voters, who are already skeptical of your institution but are willing to at least listen through the vehicle of this individual and the words that he is saying? Why would you alienate them, get on the floor and not let them speak? Not have his name go up on the board and see the number of electoral votes that he receives? This is crazy!”

Powerful words coming from the Former RNC Chairman. The Republican party seems to be actively looking for ways to alienate young voters.

I knew I saved my picture with Michael Steele for a reason.

Flagstaff Independent Press

One of the things I have consistently pushed for in my blog is for the liberty movement in Flagstaff to start actively covering and accurately reporting news.  All too often, the truth is buried or ignored by the mainstream media and it’s up to us to get the real story out.

That’s why my wife and I recently decided to take things a step further than this blog and start a website called Flagstaff Independent Press.  Our goal is to keep Northern Arizona in the loop on important, under-reported, and unreported stories.

We’re currently working with the limited number of bloggers and independent journalists we have available at this time but eventually we’d like to see people covering all City Council, School Board, County and other meetings. We’d also like to link to independently written opinion pieces, entertainment, sports and anything else that will draw people in.

Many Arizona mainstream media news sites are planning to move to a pay to view online model next year and we hope to pick up the slack by keeping our news available and free for all to read.

Flagstaff Independent Press has been in the experimental stage for a little over a month and traffic and feedback is increasing. Now we need your help spreading the word, submitting news tips, and sending us any articles or blogs you may have written that you would like us to link to.

Remember: You are the media!

Please visit and bookmark Flagstaff Independent Press at:

Also, a new blog connected to Flagstaff Independent Press called Flagstaff Voices is up and running.

You can email news tips to:

As always, your ideas and suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Endorsement: Coconino County Liberty PC Candidates

Coconino County Republicans cannot remember the last time they had contested Precinct Committeeman elections. Usually it is next to impossible to even get people to run for the positions. That’s why many were very surprised this year when the number of people applying for PC positions more than doubled the number of current elected PCs in the County. Contested precincts will be on the August 28th primary ballot.

The purpose of this post is to express my support for three very strong liberty candidates who are running. If you live in their precincts and are registered as a Republican, please consider giving them your vote:

Precinct 23: David Lipinski

Precinct 56: Ben Jones and Virginia Guest

These candidates truly understand what real freedom and liberty is all about and I am excited to have the opportunity to endorse them.

Keep in mind that Flagstaff Liberty Alliance and other organizations I work with do not endorse candidates. This endorsement is mine and mine alone.

Virginia Guest and Ben Jones are running in Precinct 56.

David Lipinski is running in precinct 23.

AZ GOP Slights Delegates Again

When the Arizona Republican Party held their State Convention in May, elected delegates around the state voted on a variety of state office positions including the position of National Committeewoman. Three candidates ran for National Committeewoman and Karen Johnson, a Ron Paul supporter, came in first with 329 votes. Her nearest rival received 274 votes. Since no candidate received more than 50% of the vote it was said that a runoff election should be held.

Before a second vote could be taken, Arizona GOP Chairman Tom Morrissey determined that the meeting no longer had a quorum and promised to hold the runoff election through a mail in ballot process. Delegates anxiously awaited further word of the mail in runoff election and never heard anything more about it.

This week, Flagstaff Independent Press acquired the following letter from Morrissey showing that the Arizona GOP plans to completely leave delegates out of the National Committeewoman selection process. This move could infuriate elected delegates statewide who sacrificed time and money to attend the State Convention so they could be involved in the selection process.

The letter reads:

“August 3, 2012

To County Chairmen/Chairwomen:

As you know we will be electing a National Committeewoman at the next Executive Committee meeting in September, with a date certain to be announced in the near future.
I ask each of you to submit the name of one state committeeman from your county to serve on a nominating committee which will be chaired by National Committeeman Bruce Ash.
Please submit the names to me by email by close of business on August 10th.

Thank you,
Tom Morrissey”
