Top Two Is Coming To The Arizona Ballot

By Elisha Dorfsmith

A couple years ago I wrote about the push to bring the “Top Two” primary system to Arizona and how it would be a nightmare for third parties.  This year we will most likely see “Top Two” on the Arizona ballot. Supporters have collected tens of thousands of signatures (I was approached and asked to sign the petition at the local library) and the pro “Top Two” propaganda machine is in full force promising more moderate candidates.

“Top Two” has a lot of support in Northern Arizona. The Arizona Daily Sun has already endorsed “Top Two” and our State Representative Tom Chabin has been pushing for it for a very long time.  Getting rid of dissenting voices will help remove some of the roadblocks to their respective agendas.

It’s time to start spreading the word about how dangerous “Top Two” is and how it will silence any candidate who thinks outside the box or runs on a third party platform. Freedom of choice and the marketplace of ideas are great American traditions that Arizona cannot afford to lose.

We need to get a work group together on this and get some talking points together. We need letter writing campaigns too. Brad Zinn talked about this and it is not good! I was led to believe it would not be on the ballot this time!

That would be very bad. We need to work on this ASAP.

–If there were a 2-stage general election, with the first being a run-off to the 2, that might be a good thing… But when coming up with new electoral systems, one tiny little change makes a TREMENDOUS difference in how it can and will be gamed.
–Any such change should only be done after a long education process that hammers-out various opinions of honest and brilliant mathematicians with enough experience to know how the political world really works.
–Because of the significance of tiny changes, and the press’ inability to discuss issues with either rationale or honesty, we had just better damn well leave enough alone.
–Especially since a Constitutional Contingent is overtaking one of the parties. If competing parties are indeed for constitutionalism, and if the movement is succeeding, they should soon join its ranks–Leaving the anti-constitutionalism parties to battle for split votes, as we have done for decades. 🙂

It’s no surprise because this favors Progressives!

Lesseee if my snarky is toned down enough, and my succinct toned up….

–Woodrow Wilson’s administration had a propaganda office, as instant mass media began taking off. No one doubts that the theater Newsies, and various wire and print services were managed by such agencies, and people were understandably, if foolishly, tolerant of it during the war efforts.

–Wilson’s hired propagandists take Himmler’s credit for teaching him everything about propaganda. They came from “progressive” think tanks, and much of the despised acts of Hitler (and Stalin, and Mao, and Pol Pot) are rooted in those progressive ideals–Which heartlessly (for the good of mankind) propose every cure for (OF) society imaginable, as dispensed by authoritarianism, subtly or overtly: “Euthanasia” (eradication), sterilization (eradication), assigned duties and roles (eradication of choice), and countless other beautifully orderly things.

(–Setting aside, for succinctness, the atrocious print services, such as NYT and affiliates covering up, for the sake of progressive order, the Nazi and Soviet mass murders, etc.)

–So, out of the heartless-world-society-of-order-tweaker-elitist schools of thought; Out of the cooperative “reporter” wire services, radio services (and later television) named “National”, “American”, and “Columbia”, we have the Media Schools of Education, which lavish praise upon Wilson’s administrators, and teach participants to Make the news, not Report it.

–Somewhere along the line, we found it boring–Or we stopped trusting and believing–Or communication technology became loud enough that we occasionally heard voices and thoughts that shook us from the mainstream media’s narrative–Or, all of the above…

–And here we are. The media outlets are dying. The “alternative media” has not yet offered an honest substitute for Cronkite and other decades of media trust. (Perhaps it never will–Which is kinda sad–Because I sure miss that feeling of near-opiate reliance on comfort, trust and security which used to emanate from assorted boob-tubes, electronics, shiny magazines, and smart-looking news papers… Oh, yeah, succinctness…)

–Anyway, here we are: The future of the hundred-year propaganda machine is uncertain.
It has steered us away from the former #1 tavern topic (constitutionalism).
It had made discussion of politics and religion impolite.
It had made our dress, transportation, appearance, occupation, and colognes, our neurosis.
It had made reason unreasonable, titans of the self-centered, gods of the uncaring.
For all intents and purposes, the machine is dead.

Under these conditions, THIS TOP TWO LEGISLATION is the most effective measure that could POSSIBLY be taken to continue progressivism’s ABSOLUTE NEED for mediocrity–Because what was radically “progressive” is now the norm, and constitutionalism is a crazy fringe.

TOP TWO is a duck–Unfortunately, the flight path is 100+ years long. Please look at it.

    (any credit for succinctness?)
