Dodge / Chrysler Dealership Comes To Flagstaff Without Incentives

By Elisha Dorfsmith

After being told by the City of Flagstaff that incentives were needed to bring a Dodge / Chrysler dealership to town, we now find out that the dealership will be coming regardless. Today a Dodge / Chrysler banner was spread across the former Mazda building as workers prepared for a grand opening.

Last month, after outrage and pressure from the public, the city did an about face and decided not to approve the incentive. Apparently the dealership feels that it is still worthwhile for them to open in Flagstaff without the $384,000 tax deal.

Keep this in mind the next time the city says that they have to offer special treatment to a company in order to bring them to town. The city should not be in the business of trying to pick winners and losers. If they want to be business friendly they should be equally friendly to everyone.

The market knows more about what Flagstaff needs or doesn’t need than our council and mayor ever could.

Coming to Flagstaff without special treatment.
